The above photo is a vacuum locking differential kit which fits land rover salisbury, Dana 60 & Dana 70 differentials. The remanufactured locking carrier replaces the standard carrier. The replacement Aluminum cover plate has been manufactured to take the bolt on aluminum actuator which operates the diff lock. The design is a very simple diff lock to fit, requiring NO special tools or alterations to the diff housing. The vacuum water trap is mounted in the engine bay and also acts as a reservoir for the vacuum. This diff lock unit is extremely strong because the standard planetary gears and cross shaft are being utilised. Locking the differential is carried out by engaging the locking ring over the outside of one axle gear, diff lock can be engaged at any speed provided the vehicle is in straight line motion. The vacuum source is drawn from the manifold on petrol engines and from the vacuum pump on the alternator of diesel engines. Land rover salisbury (Dana 60) differentials - bigger axles: We are currently manufacturing 1-1/2" OD 35 spline axles to suit land rover salisbury diff's. these larger axles will be used with larger stub axles and drive flanges, which we are also manufacturing.
