The solid synthetic testis is made of medical grade silicone elastomer. It is oval shaped, solid & molded in one piece. The solid synthetic testis has been developed by surgiwear after long research in collaboration with some of the most prominent surgeons in India. Introduction: Solid synthetic testicle is used as a cosmetic treatment of monorchism and anorchism. A man is very conscious about his manhood. Absence of one or both testicles may cause inferiority complexes and lack of confidence. Implantation of solid synthetic testis can correct the deficiency cosmetically and restore the self confidence. It is safe and effective. It feels real. It is difficult to tell the difference between a real and a synthetic testis inside the scrotum, even by a doctor. Indications: Solid synthetic testicle is indicated in all cases where there is absence of one (monorchism) or both testis (anorchism) due to any cause such as undescended testis, under developed testis, removal of testis due to trauma, Removal of testis due to carcinoma, absence of testis due to any other cause. Contraindication: Like all implants it is contraindicated in presence of infection and inflammation. It should be implanted only after six months to one year of subsidence of inflammation. Presence of any local disease contraindicates use of implant. How supplied: The solid synthetic testis is supplied ready to use, sterilized by Gamma-rays in peel open double packing. Each packet contains one testis. It has a shelf life of five years from the date of manufacture. There-after it can be used after autoclaving. It is manufactured in three sizes (table). Cleaning & autoclaving: The solid synthetic testis is supplied sterile for single use only. However it can be re sterilized by autoclaving. In a clean environment and with gloved hands remove testis from its package. The packaging is not sterilizable. It should be rinsed with sterile distilled water or saline. It may be wrapped in lint free material or placed directly in a metal box than autoclaved for 30 minutes at 121 Celsius and 1kg/cm pressure. Ethylene oxide sterilization is not recommended. Operative procedure: The operation can be easily performed under local anesthesia. Infiltration along the line of incision is sufficient. Otherwise infiltration of local anesthesia around the base of scrotum may be used. A 1.5cm long incision is made in the upper lateral part of the scrotal sac. A pouch is created by blunt dissection using index finger and stretching the scrotal skin. The pouch should be made inside the dartos muscle. So that the dartos muscle surrounds the synthetic testis. The synthetic testis is inserted into the pouch after obtaining perfect haemostasis. The wound is closed in layers. The patient can be discharged after 4-6 hours of operation. He can resume his daily routine next day. Complications: Only important complication is infection. Proper handling of implant and good haemostasis will prevent the infection. Persistent infection will warrant removal of synthetic testis. Returned goods policy: Surgiwear will accept this product for replacement or credit.
