Ammonium Chloride
Property:
Ammonium Chloride is a colorless cubic crystal or white crystalline substance with a salted and light bitter taste. The specific gravity is 1.527. It begins to vaporize without melting at 350°C and boil at 520°C .It is highly soluble in water, readily forming a slightly acidic solution whose acidity will be stronger. It is also soluble in liquid ammonia and slightly soluble in alcohol but not soluble in acetone and aether. It observably volatilizes when heated at 100°C and dissociates into ammonia and HCl, which combine into NH4Cl again when cooling in the form of white foggy substance containing extremely small granules of NH4Cl. This substance can not precipitated and become extremely insoluble in water. It has a weak hygroscopicity but can cake due to water absorption in wet or rainy days. It corrodes black metals and other non-ferrous metals, especially copper, but it does not corrode pig iron.

Packing:
Plastic woven bag inner with plastic bag in 25/50kg net.
Protection:
It has strong causticity. Be careful to prevent from skin contact. The allowable concentration for aerosol of NH4Cl is 10g/m3. Operators should wear protective smock including respirator and rubber gloves, etc. Keep in a tightly closed container in well-ventilated workshop.
Handling and Storage:
Store in a cool, dry, ventilated house away from moisture. Avoid handling or transporting together with acidic or alkaline substances. Prevent the material from rain and insolation. Load and unload carefully and protect from package damage. In the event of a fire, use water, soil or Carbon Dioxide Fire Extinguishing Media.
Applications:
Its principal use is in mining, tannery and fertilizer. It is also extensively employed as a constituent of Dyeing, Electro-bath and Soldering fluxes. Also it is used in Galvanizing, Tinning, Medicine, Candle making, Adhesive, Chromizing and Precision Casting and producing dry and storage batteries and other Ammonium Salt.
