The combination of fluorine and carbon is one of the most stable materials known to man and the resulting polymer has many special properties. PTFE is suitable for a number of applications where it has been demonstrated frequently that the mere duplication of the design and dimensions using rubber, leather, ceramics, phenolic metals, and composite materials fails to bring out the full improvements that PTFE can offer.
