White hexagonal crystals or powder. Odorless, fine quality. Relative density is 5. 606; melting point 1975℃; sublimation at 1720℃. Stable at room temperature, insoluble in water and alcohol, soluble in acid and alkali ammonia salt solution, amphoteric oxide. Absorbs carbon dioxide and water in the air to produce white zinc carbonate, should be kept airtight. It is not reduced by hydrogen and appears lemon yellow when heated, and turns white after cooling. It has good covering power and coloring power.
