Aluminum anodes make an attractive sacrificial anode material, especially in low resistivity applications such as seawater and produced brines. Al anodes have a lower driving potential than Mg anodes and higher current capacity than Zn anodes. Typical uses include offshore platforms, docks, barges, steel pilings, piers, tanks and vessels containing oil field brines, condensers, heat exchangers, ship ballast tanks, and offshore pipelines.
