This vase has a small flared mouth, a straight neck and a globular belly. It was a common porcelain vase during the Yongzheng and Qianlong reigns in the Qing dynasty and was named "Tian Qiu Ping." It was quite popular to decorate auspicious patterns on the ware in the Qing dynasty. This piece was painted with bats among clouds in red glaze, meaning ?May your fortune be as big as the heavens?. This is a good piece to express best auspicious wishes. As the underglaze red was extremely difficult to fire in the kiln, it has always been treasured as antique porcelain. It is especially precious and rare when blue and white design and underglaze red were fired in one article at the same time.
