Induction heating is employed for the treatment of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The metal bar, or portion of the metal bar, to be heated is placed within the electromagnetic field produced by a coil carrying high frequency alternating current. The intense eddycurrents generated in the metal bar are responsible for the heating of the surface area.
