The Variator - tecnical information and description.
The Variator, which is developed by INNOACTIVE, is a kind of adjustable crank mechanism .
It vas originally designed for use in an "High Compaction" screed on an asphalt paver. A screed is the unit which forms and compacts the new pavement. It is desirable that the screed compacts the new pavement as much as possible and the Variator was used in obtaining a tamping effect, which should be adjustable, as you have to adjust this effect after asphalt-type and thickness of the road
surface.
We developed the Variator and it was tested in different ways. Later we got the idea, that perhaps the Variator could be applied for use in vibration tables and test benches designed for testing various products reliability against the vibration almost any kind of products are exposed to at either a low level or a high level.
Originally we thought, that grease lubrication of the inner parts of the Variator was sufficient but the experience showed, that we hat to modify the Variator in order to get a better lubrication and cooling.
In January 2006 the improved Variator was used to test an expansion joint at the company Shape-Tech, Esbjerg.
The expansion joint was tested for vibration, fatigue failure and under different values of the 2 parameters : frequency and amplitude. The expansion joint was exposed to 10.000.000. cycles and passed the test.

Please notify that power consumption of the motor only is 3,0 kW - the efficiency is very high compared to the existing electro-dynamic or electrohydraulic solutions where a lot of input effect is converted to heat.

It is our opinion, that manufacturers of springs, vibration absorbers, expansion joints, rubber bellows and other products exposed too many reciprocating movements, also could be very interested in using the Variator for testing purposes.
It is very damaging for a manufacturer of a product, if he gets to many claims about his products
quality.
It is our plan to deliver Variators in different sizes to the customer according to meet his demands. If he wants us to deliver a complete vibration table or test bench as a "Turn-key" solution is that possible too.
Some customers might want to mount measuring equipment on the vibration table/test bench and we are seeking a co-operation with a company who can deliver the necessary measurement equipment and also could have interest in selling Variators, vibration tables and test benches.

If you conclude, there is a business opportunity, we will of course have to make an NDA-agreement. We have sent a patent application on the invention but only here in Denmark.
