In late Shang Dynasty(1200BC-1100 BC),a kind of wine vessel,22.8cm in height, 14.4cm in width, 26.5cm in length and 2.77kg in weight, it was excavated in lion mountain, Liling, Hunan province, now collected in Hunan museum. Elephant statue was buried in the earth for a long time, when excavated presents green ,the whole body was decorated with various veins .The shape of the elephant is huge , fat, long nose, big ear, and short tail, the whole sculpture is vivid. Tine of the elephant is sculptured with bird shape, with eye, mouth and crest. On top of the crest is a tiger, the mouth of the tiger toward the elephant's forehead, on elephant's front leg sculptured another tiger, on his back leg sculptured a dragon. The pattern is clear.
The shape of this sculpture is adopted from the reality life. It fully embodied the god's impression, the veins conceive is also excellent, this sculpture gathered the various fabulous animals in the elephant, making the whole vessel full of miraculous color.
