Unique in rugged computing, the FieldWorks 8500 features an expansion card cage with full power supply and connection for up to three full-length or six half-length PCI expansion cards. Designed for users in government, military, industrial and other field environments, the FieldWorks 8500 delivers dependable reliability for critical applications in telemetry, data acquisition, test and measurement, and more.

Kontron Mobile Computing also continues to offer the FieldWorks 8000, a similar system featuring a combination of PCI and ISA slots. Both systems offer features and options that make them premier field computing products, including ruggedness tested to Mil-Std-810E military standards to withstand shock (75G) and vibration, and active cooling technology allowing for operation in wide temperature ranges.
At the heart of the FieldWorks 8500 is Kontron QuickSilver CPU module, allowing for easy upgrade and a 1.20 GHz Intel Pentium III Processor-M. The FieldWorks 8500 also features:

--40GB hard drive, with optional higher capacities and dual removable hard drives.
