DESCRIPTION OF DESIGN & HISTORY:
The high quality of design and craftsmanship is attested to by the renowned master weaver, Seirafian. It embodies the timeless characteristics which exercised a decisive influence on their successors. The well balanced natural vegetable dye colours depend on their vitality for the contrast of clearly delineated matching shades but the key to the whole lies in the harmony of well-judged proportions.
A complex red medallion of superimposed eight and sixteen point ornaments is a far more coherent in construction than most of the Isfahan medallions; its graphic clarity ensures a focal role against the cream field in which a spiral stem in ivory binds together in an ornate yet excellently spaces floral and foliate design. The demonstrative main rusty red border of shah-abbasi is held between four stripes among which the two ivory elements make a contribution to the carpet旧 visual impression.
This impressive city carpet would make a proud addition to any Persian carpet collection.
