By the late 1980's Xantrex was seriously interested in expanding its markets to include more than bench top applications. The solution was a mach higher powered product line-the XKW Series. This new series was suitable for a broad range of power requirements and was the first high powered system designed for harsh industrial environments. They were also the first completely rack mountable units with optional internal digital interface capability. With the introduction of the XKW product line, Xantrex engineers set new world standards for flexibility, modular construction, and contemporary aesthetic design. It was the first product line this power range to offer built-in CPIB computer control features. This continues to be a popular configuration, satisfying many market requirements.
